HAPPY ACCIDENTS short version with a happy doodle how to at the end! Anytime we make a mistake instead of getting frustrated we can turn it into something new, something we would have never made if we hadn’t worked through our mistake. Come listen to my story and make a happy doodle from a scribble with me at the end 🤗 I can’t wait to see your happy accident!
Happy Accidents This week I’m reading a special book near and dear to my heart! I hope you enjoy Happy Accidents! I’m also adding an extra video of one of my dearest friends Mrs. Kubicek, who is also an art teacher! She was inspired to use Happy Accidents for her students so I wanted to share her video below so you can watch how she makes some beautiful happy accidents with watercolor paint 🎨 Inspiration is everywhere and you never know what’s going to inspire you. I was so excited to see how Happy Accidents inspired Mrs. Kubicek I had to share her video too!
Happy Accidents 💡 Ideas to inspire you!!
🎨 Make some paint splashes and marks on a piece of paper and turn it into something new! 🎨 Write a poem about your favorite color, draw a picture of what your color means to you and where you see it in the world. 🎨 Draw a dream you have had, anything can happen in a dream! 🎨 Create a made up animal or mix different animals together 🎨 Create a feelings picture using only colors and lines. Pick special colors for each feeling for example Yellow for happy, orange for excited, pink for love, red for anger, blue for sad, green for calm and purple for silly. Make lines and shapes on a piece of paper a few minutes everyday for a few days or even a week or more sharing your feelings, at the end you will have a masterpiece filled with emotion ❤️ 🎨 Pretend you are a different size today, maybe you are as small as an ant 🐜 or as big as giraffe 🦒 Now draw a picture showing your new size in the world where everything else stayed the same size! How would you ride a bike as an ant or get into bed as a giraffe? Draw it to see some silly 😜 ideas come to life!
Below is Mrs. Kubicek’s happy accidents creation with her special assistant Mia!!!
Happy lil’ rainbows 🌈 in your window! Rainbows in windows 🌈 help cheer everyone up! Here is a special story I wanted to share for about rainbows in windows and how we can help make everyone feel better! I miss you all and I’ve seen so many beautiful rainbows 🌈 already! Your art 🖼 has been so beautiful my little Picasso’s and I want you to know how proud I am of you all! ❤️ Mrs. Carter
FRIDA I’m reading one of my favorite books about one of my favorite artists .... Frida Kahlo. This is the story Frida by Jonah Winter and illustrated by Ana Juan. After you listen to the story and look at the slideshow below I want to think about Frida’s life. She created art stuck in her bed at home. Right now we might feel stuck too.... let’s turn our stuck feelings into something beautiful, like Frida did. Frida made a lot of self portraits because she was always with herself, often alone. Check out the self portrait videos in the Art at home section and make a self portrait of you! Then to add the Frida Kahlo twist I want you to add an animal on your shoulder like Frida did. Her pet monkey was named Fulang- Chang. You can borrow Fulang- Chang or pick any animal to add to your shoulder. Last step....add a background, the space behind you in the picture. Frida is in the jungle. Where do you want to be in your self -portrait?! Use your imagination...outer space, the library, a garden, in the clouds, inside a volcano or maybe at an art museum like me. Post your work in our Art google classroom in your art portfolio section! I can’t wait to see!!!
We are reading I Have an Idea! by Herve Tullet After you listen to the story try to draw an idea you have had recently! This can be any idea... from a feeling, an invention or even something silly. How would you draw this idea to best show the world how you are thinking? Remember there is no right or wrong way to do this :)
I’m reading Ish by Peter Reynolds! After you watch the video I want you to create an Ish drawing... which is a creation where you make something that looks like something but it isn’t perfect. For example a flower but it’s not exactly like it so it’s flower-ish. Make anything you want but I challenge you to try to draw something you think you can’t because that’s when your best ish will come to be! And remember it’s not going to look how you want it to! That’s why we call it an ish....it looks kinda ish what you were trying to create :) Don’t be afraid to make that mistake! You want to make a mistake, that’s how you even get an ish!
Come read and create with me! I'm not a great singer but it's important to try things you are not the best at...so I'm singing this book for you! Watch Ruby turn the pages and I have a little drawing challenge with this story! I want you to draw me a picture of something that is making you feel "all right"! I'm feeling good when I can cook for my family so my picture would be me in the kitchen. I would add details like the bowls, the pans and the stove. What makes you feel good right now? Draw it and send me your pictures :)
