Text "Selfies" Artists learned about Pop Artist Andy Warhol and explored different artist's self-portraits. Students wrote poems in their ELA class and then typed their "I am" poem in Technology class. We printed them on watercolor paper and turned our written art into visual art! Each artist used a mirror to study their face. The completed works will be on display at the 2nd Annual Art Gallery Night!!

Alexander Calder Sculptures We learned about the famous American artist Alexander Calder and his sculptures. Calder invented the mobile, a sculpture that hangs. He also made stabiles, sculptures that stand and kinectic sculptures ,which move by hand or a motor. He was most famous for his Cirque Calder sculptures which he would pack in suit cases and travel from New York to Paris performing his circus of art. His kinectic sculptures were fun and bold making him famous globally.

Giving Tree Sculptures We read The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstien and created our own giving trees made out of paper bags. Inside our trees we wrote secret messages about how we give. After lots of coloring we twisted our 2 dimensional bags into 3 dimensional sculptures.
